Merge Dragons! has been testing Event Portal Upgrades for a year and Season Portal Upgrades, a similar feature, for nine months.

These two portals allow players to access weekly events and a battle pass. Players can complete missions to upgrade each portal, which increases the rewards players earn from the associated events.

Because it takes a lot of tuning to increase rewards for recurring events, it will be very difficult for other apps to emulate these features.
