Solitaire Cruise Tripeaks’ The Snowy Stir uses lite custom design elements to give its board game a sense of progression. As players collect resources from spaces, they earn decorations for a winter scene in the center of the board. Though players can’t choose these decorations, the board game offers a small amount of agency by letting players choose the result of wild dice rolls.
In this report, we also analyze how The Snowy Stir’s design intertwines with the app’s base gameplay to encourage engagement, and how it uses an innovative chain of purchase offers to drive spend.
Breakout and Soft-Launch Apps
Crazy Hospital: Doctor Dash has quickly become one of the top-grossing apps in the time management subgenre. The app is quite similar to the previous top-grossing hospital time management app, Happy Clinic, and it appears to have captured a significant portion of Happy Clinic’s market share.
Jumbline: Word Game Adventure reinvents Brainium’s 2010 app, Jumbline 2. The core loop of Jumbline: Word Game Adventure is a continuation of Brainium’s focus on classic word and card games. However, the inclusion of a space theme, map-based progression, customizable spaceship, and boosts represents a new step for Brainium and likely reflects its recent acquisition by PlayStudios.
Innovative Features and Events
This month’s noteworthy releases include a competition with multipliers for win streaks in Clockmaker, a tower-building quest feature in Angry Birds Friends, and a multi-round group competition in Royal Match.
