Slotomania’s Reel Owners is the first major NFT feature we’ve seen in a top mobile gaming app outside of the play-to-earn (P2E) market. In this feature, players buy NFTs representing slots symbols from a store or other players. Players who collect six different symbols from a single machine can exchange those symbols for an NFT representing that machine, which grants rewards.

Reel Owners includes a number of design decisions that make it more accessible and less profit-driven than other NFT systems (such as those seen in P2E apps): 

• The feature uses collection mechanics that are familiar to casino players.
• Purchases can be made with credit cards and do not require crypto wallets. 
• A built-in marketplace allows players to easily buy and sell NFTs.
• Slotomania can set maximum prices in the marketplace and charges a $25 fee for cashing out, which discourages players from trying to make a profit.

In this report, we also analyze how Slotomania addresses the inflation issues that plague many P2E apps, and how Reel Owners could encourage engagement by tweaking its NFT mechanics to include slots gameplay.

This month’s noteworthy releases include a farming mini-game in which players steal crops from each other in Cash Tornado, a quest map with branching paths in GSN Casino, and unlockable daily challenges that award a pick’em mini-game in Gold Fish Casino.
