Idle Mafia’s Merge Island builds on the trend of cross-genre mini-games in casual apps by offering complex merge gameplay that includes a long progression, resource mechanics, recurring challenges, and collections. The event’s chief innovation is a series of short, recurring competition events tied to the mini-game, which raises the ceiling on engagement and spend within the mini-game.
To encourage players to make multiple purchases per event, the app sells IAPs that affect different aspects of the mini-game. These IAPs include permanent and temporary boosts for resource production, loot boxes containing merge items, and banks with multiple tiers that award loot boxes.
